Jerí paid posthumous tribute to General Marco Marín Saldaña in a funeral ceremony at 'El Pentagonito'

The President of the Republic, José Jeríwent on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 28, to the General Headquarters of the Peruvian Army to participate in the funeral honors of the brigadier general. Marco Marin Saldañawho served as head of the Pataz Unified Command and died recently, generating deep consternation in the Armed Forces.

The ceremony was held in the Bolognesi hall of ‘El Pentagonito’, in the Lima district of San Borja, an emblematic place where senior officers of the military institution are bid farewell. Accompanied by the Minister of Defense, César Díaz, the head of state personally presented his condolences to the family of the deceased officer.

Jerí Oré arrived at the military headquarters as part of his official activities, and stood next to the main entrance while the coffin entered. Minutes later, he entered the room behind the general’s wife and his closest relatives, as a sign of respect and solemnity.

The coffin, covered with the national flag, was carried by classmates from the 1999 class of the Chorrillos Military School, who accompanied Marín Saldaña during his training and military career. The event was led by Colonel José Tejada, general commander of the Peruvian Legion of the Guard, who directed the military protocol corresponding to the rank of the honored officer.

During the ceremony, moments of deep meditation were experienced. When the president was in front of the general’s widow, he expressed his condolences directly and respectfully. Afterwards, he also shook hands with children and family members who remained visibly affected by the loss.

In turn, senior officers of the Armed Forces remembered Marín Saldaña as a disciplined officer, strategist and committed to the defense of the country. His work at the head of the Pataz Unified Command was highlighted as an example of leadership in areas where the State supports complex operations.
