Relief agencies hope to carry out the extraction of the body this Saturday morning.
Last Wednesday the disappearance of Jeferson Ramireza young man from 31 years native of Manizales (Caldas)who had decided to summit in the Nevado del Tolima. For three days, his family and the authorities had no information about his whereabouts.
Search operation
He Major Luis Fernando Vélezdirector of the Civil Defense in Tolimaled the search with a team of 20 professional mountaineersnext to National Armythe Police and community members from the regions of the Quindío and Tolima.
After intense work, on Friday afternoon the unfortunate news of the discovery of Jeferson’s lifeless body.

It was found at more than 4,600 meters high
“On Friday afternoon, mountaineers and people from the region gave the unfortunate news of the discovery of Jeferson’s body, located at a height of approximately 4,600 meters. Although an attempt was made to carry out the extraction during the day, it was not possible,” explained Major Vélez.
The official added that communication has already been established with the Attorney General’s Office to lift the body. It is expected that this Saturday the transportation by pack animals to the department of Quindío.
Recommendations from the authorities
The Civil Defense of Tolima called for caution for those who practice extreme sports or high mountain activities.
Among the recommendations are carry geopositioning systems, use GPS in the field and mark routes before starting the tours.
“This situation alerts us to the responsibility of people who carry out this type of high-risk activities, which can end in tragic outcomes,” warned Vélez.
