The Special Electoral Jury (JEE) of Lima Centro 2 declared Mario Vizcarra’s candidacy to the Senate inadmissible for having recorded a suspended sentence for embezzlement in 2005. In this context, the electoral body granted two days to Perú Primero to correct the errors within the framework of the 2026 Elections.
However, on Wednesday, January 7, the JEE of Lima Centro 2 exceptionally granted him one more day for the political party to present the complete sentence for the crime declared in Vizcarra’s resume, as well as the proof or resolution of rehabilitation, if applicable.
The electoral body’s request was made because in the Single Format of Affidavit of Resume, in section V “List of Sentences”, Vizcarra’s file number is incomplete, which makes it difficult to verify the Senate candidate’s background.
Likewise, the JEE detailed, the quality of the author, accomplice or participant in the aforementioned criminal offense cannot be monitored either.
The electoral body clarified that this information is mandatory to present; If not, they will be under warning that the candidacy will be declared inadmissible.
