Jean Alain asks the judge to allow him to prove his innocence, but released

Jean Alain pide al juez le permita demostrar su inocencia, pero en libertad

SANTO DOMINGO.- The former Attorney General of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodríguez, asked the judge this afternoon to allow him to prove his innocence while at liberty and assured that he does not represent a flight risk.

“Allow me to demonstrate, maintain my state of innocence, but free,” Jean Alain Rodríguez told Judge Amauri Martínez, of the Third Investigating Court,

He denied that both he and his defense had delayed practices in the process, as both the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the complainant lawyers affirmed. He argued that instead of requesting an appeal every three months, they have only done so twice.

“I think that there is not a single Dominican who does not know of the resentment that there is towards me”, alluding to the fact that when he asks for documents from his case, they give it to him little by little.

He indicated that Judge Amauri Martínez, of the Third Investigating Court, does not have “not a piece of paper” that I have called someone to threaten him.

He emphasized that the Public Ministry is powerful and has dedicated all its efforts against it. “It is the entire State against Jean Alain Rodríguez,” he assured.

He questioned his right to an objective investigation as established by law.

The deputy prosecutor and director of Persecution, Yeni Berenice Reynoso, stated that one of the reasons why the defendant should not be released is that both he and his lawyers have intimidated some witnesses, as well as the delay in the process. .

In this sense, the attorney revealed that they have three people in witness protection due to death threats allegedly made by Jean Alain.
