JCE inaugurates Late Declarations Unit in Santiago Oeste

Santiago. -The Central Electoral Board inaugurated this Wednesday a new Mobile Unit for Late Declarations in the Santiago Oeste municipal district, with the aim of reducing under-registration, bringing services closer and facilitating the process for families in the area and surrounding areas.

The inaugural activity was headed by the president of the JCE, Román Jáquez Liranzo, and the plenary members Rafael Armando Vallejo Santelises and Dolores Fernández, who supported the premise that has highlighted this management: “Don’t go to the Board, the Board goes to you”.

During the development of the act, the president of the electoral body invited in Cienfuegos to verify that for the Central Electoral Board there are no distances or social status, when it comes to bringing services closer to citizens.

“What the Central Electoral Board is looking at is rights, what it is looking at is a nearby service under trees, in the air conditioning of a square… Wherever the problem of identity is, the Board will be there to solve it, because this Plenary is JCE is the one that goes to you wherever you are”, he pointed out, adding that the Plenary is aware that identity is sovereignty and democracy is peace.

He stressed that this Mobile Unit for Late Declarations is going to impact the office of the Second Circumscription of Santiago and the Fifth, located in West Santiago, noting that, six months after the opening of the office in Cienfuegos, 9,036 services have been provided positive way to people of this locality.

Jáquez Liranzo said that the mobile units are equipped with technological equipment and platforms that allow the registration of the birth certificate to be integrated with biometric data by capturing a photo, signature and fingerprints, which guarantees an agile, transparent and above-average service. all sure of identity and Dominican identity.

The president of the JCE reported that, so far this year, the late declaration operations carried out at the national level, including in Cienfuegos, have impacted 446 communities in the Dominican Republic in 18 operations, reaching more than seven thousand people ( 941 minors and 788 over 16 years old) declared satisfactorily.

He stressed that some of these mobile units are currently installed in different health centers with high demands for birth registration, which allows timely declaration, representing a progressive decrease in under-registration, in an effort to comply with the provisions in article 147 of the Dominican Constitution, which establishes that public services are destined to satisfy the needs of collective interest, as well as what is stipulated by the National Development Strategy Law, on the objectives and goals to avoid under-registration.

Jáquez Liranzo stressed that decentralizing the services provided by the civil status offices is a forceful policy of the JCE, which translates into decongesting and making them more efficient.

He stated that this inauguration was conceived in compliance with one of the pillars embodied in the JCE Strategic Plan 2020-2024, such as guaranteeing the exercise of the civil and political rights of people, through the registration of their birth.

He explained that to this is added offering quality services in accordance with current regulations and democratic values ​​and, above all, eliminating or reducing to a minimum the under-registration of births.

He explained that these under-registrations “are those cases in which boys and girls are born and the term granted by law to make the declaration expires and the process is reversed and that is what the service they want to offer from this unit is about.

The activity was also attended by officials and collaborators of the JCE, representatives of the different entities that work on the rights of children and adolescents, members of civil society and authorities of the Santiago Oeste municipal district, including the District Director Eddy Báez, the deputy mayor Arisleyda Lantigua and the priest Williams Arias, vicar of the Archdiocese of Santiago, who was in charge of the words of blessing of the act.
