JCE establishes 2024 election calendar

Santo Domingo. – The Plenary of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), through its National Elections Directorate, presented this Monday the recognized political parties, groups and movements before the electoral body, as well as members of civil society and the media , the calendar of administrative activities and legal deadlines that will govern the electoral processes of 2024.

The presentation of the electoral calendar was held in a public audience in the Auditorium of the JCE headquarters, which was headed by the Plenary, made up of its president, Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo; by the titular members Rafael Armando Vallejo, Dolores Fernández Sánchez, Patricia Lorenzo Paniagua and Samir Chami Isa, assisted by the general secretary, Sonne Beltré.

In the presence of the presidents, secretaries and delegates of the political organizations, as well as representatives of the academic area of ​​the country, the president of the JCE, Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, highlighted that the institution makes the calendar of administrative activities available to society. and legal deadlines 2024, whose purpose is that citizens and political parties, movements and groups have the necessary information for the 2024 process.

“Since November 2020, the members of this plenary session have initiated a set of decisions and actions of an institutional nature based on a model based on transparency, on the principle of legality and based on the institution’s strategic plan,” he said. Jaquez Liranzo.

He stated that one of the fundamental aspects that the calendar addresses is that related to electoral officials, in terms of training and education, as well as keeping the public informed at all times.

Regarding the electoral norm, he pointed out that the citizens will be able to appreciate, through the administrative electoral calendar and legal deadlines, all the measures arranged to update the regulations related to the different dependencies, and he took the opportunity to remind that the elections are held in the 2024, but they are paid in 2023.

“It must be made the caveat that the 2024 elections are organized and paid for in 2023, not in 2024,” emphasized Jáquez Liranzo, noting that the fact that the State thinks that the organization of the elections is a risk which are paid in 2024.

He added that “the budget that the JCE has presented is reasonable and prudent, but it must be executed in 2023, so that the 2024 elections can be organized.
