Jazz Day commemorates the creation of this musical genre born in the city of New Orleans as a product of a mixture of emigrants and their cultures in the year 1764. For this reason, in November 2011, during the UNESCO General Conference , the international community proclaimed April 30 as International Jazz Day.
In this 2023, on April 29, the celebration for the international day of jazz will take place in Asunción, joining the festivities in more than 180 countries around the world. In this context in Paraguay, at the Jazzday Festival, prominent international groups will perform together with national artists, for a musical party around the values of jazz.
In this way, the festival for the international day of jazz, promoted by Síncopa Producciones since 2014, returns to Asunción, with the outstanding international presence of the Argentine duo Zebaca, the French group Retrópico and the project of the national singer-songwriter Yenia, with Canciones del Delta , in a unique night at the Municipal Theater of Asunción on Saturday, April 29 from 8:00 p.m. Tickets have a popular cost of G. 30,000, at the Theater box office.
The Jazzday Asunción Festival is possible thanks to the support of Ibermusicas and Paraguayan cultural institutions such as the National Secretariat of Culture, DINAPI, and Collective Management Entities, the French Alliance of Asunción, as well as the Directorate of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Asunción .

Yenia and songs of the Delta
The singer-songwriter Yenia sought a phonographic encounter between her work, her voice and the sound and diverse musical aesthetics of our jazz players. This search originated her new album: “Paraguay delta” [Yenia, sus canciones y jazzistas de esta tierra] Released in November this year. The prospectus of this appointment defined the theme of seven new songs included in the album, a vein of small stories or sounds of jazz that Yenia linked to personal stories of hers. Likewise, the versions of five songs from her first album “February” gave this delta a jazzy reinterpretation.
