Deputy Gustavo Zubía proposes that the Armed Forces participate in Montevideo, as they do at the borders

The Minister of National Defense, javier garciaHe referred to the statements of the Deputy Gustavo Zubíawho proposed that the Armed Forces participate with law enforcement activities in Montevideo.
“Must analyze that approachbut let’s emphasize that today the fight against drug trafficking is led accordingly by the Police, which is carrying out with very good results,” said the chief and leader of Espacio 40 in an interview with Radio Montecarlo.
Former prosecutor Zubía published a comment on his Twitter account in which he explained that the armed forces participate in repression at the borders and questioned why they could not do so in Montevideo, given the increase in homicides in 2022.

When consulted, García remarked that the law is very precise and that internal security is a matter for the police and in terms of the Armed Forces the possibility is a space up to 20 kilometers from the border. To make other decisions specific legal framework requiredhe clarified.
