The persecuted politician Javier Álvarez Zamora denounced, in an interview with the program Esta Semana, that the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, has kept his wife Jeannine Horvilleur Cuadra, 63, his daughter Ana Carolina Álvarez Horvilleur, 43, both Nicaraguan-French nationals, hostage since September 13. A day later they also kidnapped his son-in-law Félix Roiz Sotomayor.
“On September 13, at ten o’clock at night, the police arrived with all their paraphernalia. At eleven they entered my house in search of me. They searched the whole house and when they couldn’t find me, because they were looking for me, they took my daughter, who at that moment is accompanying my wife. Also, they raided my daughter’s house, where she lives with her husband Félix Roiz Sotomayor and they also took him prisoner, “she denounced.
He stressed that none of the threethey have to be captured” because “they have not committed any crime”. “I have not committed any crime either, I am not a criminal. I am not a dangerous person. I am not a dangerous element and this is for me an extraordinary level of inhumanity and repression because when they do not find me they take them detained to the cells of El Chipote”.
“In the past, when they have come to capture someone, when they have tried to capture someone, they come to the house, if they want they destroy it, they steal what they want, but they leave the relatives behind, so this is a new level for me. of repression, from which we were suffering before. Namely, if we don’t catch you, your family is the one that is going to pay. This is unheard of, this has no name or comparison with any historical situation in this country, it is barbaric, so I denounce this barbarism to the world”, he added.
Álvarez assured that he was not aware of the kidnapping of his family because before the raid on his home occurred, he had begun his departure from the country, precisely as a result of the persecution of the Ortega-Murillo regime.
“I did not realize this and until I left the country I found out that my wife, my daughter and my son-in-law are detained and the people of Nicaragua can already imagine the infernal suffering that I am having as a husband and father,” he lamented. .
Urgent admission of medicines
Álvarez stressed that his wife Jeannine Horvilleur and his daughter Ana Álvarez Horvilleur have chronic problems that must be treated by specialists and require daily medication.
He explained that his partner is a breast cancer survivor. She underwent surgery on the left breast and has had chemotherapy processes and, currently, she follows regular control processes, in which tests are done to see if there are metastases or if the cancer has returned.
“She has a list of medicines that she has to take permanently every day, at the same time, due to medical indications, and her relatives who have come to El Chipote to want to give her the medicines have not received them. The answer they give is that the El Chipote doctor has to prescribe them. How is the El Chipote doctor going to prescribe medicines to patients she doesn’t know? How is she going to decide what she has to take if he has never cared for her? She is not an oncologist, she is not a person versed in this type of circumstance, so, until yesterday, they were not accepting medicines that they have to take daily and they have a humanitarian obligation to do so, ”she lamented.
The politically persecuted person assures that for now they do not have more information about the condition of their kidnapped relatives, but they have confirmation that they are in El Chipote, although, he denounces, at first the authorities tried to make them believe that they were free.
“First they gave the information that they had been released on September 14, at four in the afternoon, the two of them, I don’t know about Félix, but what was known was that the two of them had been released and then they appeared in the chats of familiar little text saying we’re dating and we’re fine but when you tried to contact them there was no communication at all. They looked for them in their homes and they are not there, they looked for them with relatives and they are not there either, so they were missing, that is to say, nobody knew absolutely anything about them, so they insist that they are detained and finally Felix’s sister was told They confirm that they are all detained there in El Chipote,” he explained.
France follows the situation of its two citizens
Álvarez explained that the situation of his wife and daughter, both of Nicaraguan-French nationality, had already been reported to the French authorities, through the French embassy in Nicaragua, although, for now, he indicated that he preferred not to go into detail about steps that the French Government may be taking.
“The French ambassador contacted me yesterday and we prefer, by mutual agreement with the embassy, not to delve further into what is being done, but, yes, the French embassy in Nicaragua, the foreign ministry in France, are already aware of the situation. of this pair of Nicaraguan citizens in the first place and French by family descent, of French citizenship acquired precisely by family descent”, he pointed out.
He reiterated that his relatives “are innocent, they have not committed any crime and they are excellent, honest, hard-working people, good citizens, who do not have to be suffering in prison.”
“If in any case the dictatorship has something against me, which it shouldn’t have, because the only thing I want is a free, democratic homeland, in which we all live in freedom, if perhaps the dictatorship has something against me, which look for me, but leave my relatives in peace, this is a higher step of repression, “he said.
In addition, he recalled that “thinking differently is not a crime, it is a human right to think how one wants to think, feel how one wants to feel, have the political options that one wants to have. No one can force you to have a political option as they (the regime) want you to have it”.
