The justice of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo accused the young Jasson Noel Salazar Rugama for alleged crimes of “treason against the homeland” this Friday, May 19, denounced the April 19 University Movement (MU19A) through a statement.

Salazar Rugama is vice president of the MU19A and was captured on April 4 at his home in Managua by a contingent of about 20 police officers. He is being held in the preventive cells of the capital’s District III police station.

According to the organization, Salazar was subjected to a preliminary hearing yesterday and was charged with “the unconstitutional laws of cybercrime and treason.” The criminal case was given “complex processing”, which doubles the procedural times for the court to resolve the case. The initial hearing is scheduled for June 7.

The judicial process against the young activist took place 46 days after he was detained “unfairly and arbitrarily.” “We receive this notification with great concern since to this day we do not know the real state in which he is, he has been denied visits to his relatives and we fear for the torture conditions to which he is exposed,” said the MU19A. .

The youth organization alerted the national and international community and human rights organizations about these judicial processes that it described as “arbitrary where no constitutional guarantee for political prisoners is respected.”

“We urge all Nicaraguans who fight for democracy in Nicaragua to demonstrate in support of the families that are being harassed and for fear of reprisals suffer this ordeal in silence,” he said.

“We demand that the physical integrity of Jasson Salazar be respected and we demand his immediate release. Being young and loving your country is not a crime! Freedom for all political prisoners! », He concluded.
