Madrid Spain.- The Government of Japan, through its cooperation agency (JICA), will help Cuba in its recovery after the ravages caused by Hurricane Ian, which affected the island on September 27.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Asian country on Tuesday, “Japan has decided to provide emergency aid to Cuba to support the victims affected by the disaster.”

Through a statement, the headline, quoted by the Spanish news agency EFE, declared that the aid was provided “taking into account the humanitarian perspective and the close relations between Japan and Cuba.”

The aid includes purifiers and water tanks, as well as cable reels and adapters.

This weekend it transpired that the European Union (EU) would donate one million euros in humanitarian aid to the Island for the people affected by the impact of Ian.

Through a release The EU noted that the funding will be provided to EU humanitarian partners operating on the ground to meet the immediate needs of the most vulnerable, including through the provision of temporary emergency shelter, water and sanitation services.
