The regime justifies that the millionaire loan “concerns the economic cooperation of the Government of Japan to promote the economic and social development of the Republic of Nicaragua, for an amount of up to five hundred million Japanese yen.” That amount is equivalent to 3 million 752 thousand 400 dollars.
“Sign and execute, in the name and on behalf of the Government of Nicaragua, the corresponding interbank agreement with the agent bank in Japan, and carry out or authorize the other procedures and documents that are necessary to operationalize the disbursement and transfer of the corresponding funds” , adds The Gazette.
Recently, Japan disbursed 3.7 million dollars for the equipment of 13 hospitals in Nicaragua, reported the Ministry of Health of the Central American country. The country’s health authorities stated that with this money they planned to acquire 20 different types of highly specialized medical equipment, totaling some 50 units that will be distributed in six departmental hospitals, four regional hospitals, and three national reference hospitals, that is, 13 Nicaraguan hospitals.
Currently, Japan, Nicaragua’s second largest trading partner in Asia after South Korea, usually provides support to the Central American country on issues related to hospital equipment.
The Asian country has also contributed to Nicaragua on issues related to renewable energy, infrastructure, mainly bridges and highways, as well as the organization of collective urban transport.
On previous occasions, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Keisuke Suzuki, has highlighted that Japan and Nicaragua maintain such an important relationship “and I would like to highlight that Nicaragua is an important partner for Japan and with the various visits we have made and are going to carry out today we would like to strengthen the closest relations between both countries,” said the diplomat on a visit to the Central American country.
