“January 6th”a documentary film produced and directed by the brothers Jules and Gédeon Naudet which reviews the attack on the United States Capitol by supporters of Donald Trump who protested against the results in the presidential elections that denied the re-election to the Republican magnate, can be seen from this Thursday on the HBO Max platform.
The film recapitulates Trump’s speeches after the electoral defeat and shortly before the two houses of the country’s Congress met on January 6, 2021, to confirm the victory of his opponent, Democrat Joe Biden.
Those speeches, according to the investigation of a special congressional commission, incited his followers to attack the Capitol in Washington DC. That is why they asked last month that the former president be charged with the crimes of incitement to insurrection, obstruction of an official procedure, conspiracy to defraud the government and false statements.
With unpublished testimonies from those present and images of the crowds inside and outside the legislative building, the documentary aims to narrate in detail the invasion that lasted until the early hours of January 7.
The Naudets are also responsible for the documentary films “9/11”; “The Presidents’ Gatekeepers” and “Notre-Dame: Our Lady of Paris.”
