The vice president of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Janet Camilo, announced this Wednesday her aspirations to the candidacy for Mayor of the National District, for the municipal elections of the year 2024.
“This large area of the Dominican capital needs management with planning and concrete achievements, the National District it deserves a city council focused on serving people with services that work”, expressed Camilo when presenting his aspirations during an activity in which representatives of the media, PRD leaders, friends and associates were present.
Camilo, who was recently sworn in as president of the Socialist International Women, indicated that an example of the malaise that this area of the Dominican capital is currently experiencing is the trauma left by the rain last November 4.
“A negative Friday for citizens, a day in which we lost nine human lives and that left millions of pesos in material losses. That devastating rain that did not find an adequate pluvial system that would allow it to run, swept away the hopes of many people, ”he said.
The former Minister of Women pointed out that during her career of more than 30 years in Dominican politics, she has learned to differentiate between important tasks and urgent ones, “among the urgent tasks that the National District needs to be resolved are storm drainage, traffic , lighting, urban design, as well as poor management in garbage collection”.
In this sense, Janet Camilo understands that there are ills that affect the National District that have accumulated and/or increased over the years, “and that is why I call for you to support this candidacy and form work teams that allow us to achieve a healthy, cultivated and prepared National District… a DN that makes us feel proud to be a stick series”.
Camilo emphasized that “Passion for my city” is a municipal government proposal in which social and municipal groups, religious associations, clubs and neighborhood associations are already integrated, with whom he works and will work together to identify urgent problems of each neighborhood and thus execute the Actions that adjust to the solution of the problem that affects the conglomerate in question.
Janet Camilo, who already has 30 years in national political life, stated that if she is elected as mayor of the National District, she will work with the passion that has characterized her career and achieve a free, responsible, prosperous, modern, welcoming, egalitarian and democratic city. .
On the path that we formally begin today towards the mayor’s office of the National District, we will rethink the course of the city council and we will recover the spirit of the mayor’s office built by those who have been, are and will be my teachers: José Francisco Peña Gómez and Fello Suberví.
He also thanked the support and welcome he has received for years from the Dominican Revolutionary Party and its president, Miguel Vargas Maldonado.
