He recalled that the political prisoner was imprisoned in 2018, and released in 2019, but in less than 40 days he was arrested again. “We believe that the sentence he paid is sufficient from a human point of view, so we appeal to humanism and we appeal to compliance with the laws and the sentence imposed and that Jaime Navarrete Blandón be released.”

“We hope that they do not come out with another hoax as it has been in other cases that do not want to release them despite the fact that they have served their sentence. Jaime has suffered a lot, he has serious health problems. He has difficulty breathing and he has not seen his wife and his daughter since the first time he was imprisoned,” the teacher stressed.

Navarrete, 38, was kidnapped for the first time in 2018 and sentenced to 24 years in prison, allegedly for having murdered a paramilitary, however he was released from prison under the controversial Ortega Amnesty Law on June 10, 2019.
