The public health situation in Venezuela is “truly worrying” according to the analysis made by specialist Jaime Lorenzo.
The lack of adequate supplies and materials for medical care prevents health professionals from being able to offer the necessary assistance to the population.
Lorenzo, a public health specialist, highlighted that there is a crisis that has been worsening over time, affecting both prevention and hospitalization services.
“The health situation in Venezuela is really getting more difficult every day. It is harder for the citizen who lives in Venezuela regardless of skin color, race, sex, ideological thinking and economic level. Unfortunately, the health system as a whole is becoming increasingly underserved. and with less capacity to respond to people,” he expressed to Radio Fe y Alegría News.

He indicated that the Constitution clearly says that care in Venezuela is free, “but it is free on paper, it is free when the patient enters the hospital because they do not pay admission. But you have to buy or pay for private services of what is needed to solve your illness problem.”
Jaime Lorenzo highlighted that in health centers that depend on the public administration they only have the availability of workers in their respective activities.
“The only response that a citizen receives when they step foot in a health care facility, whether hospital or outpatient clinic, is the presence of human resources, doctors, nurses, analysts, nutritionists, and labor personnel,” he said.
