With the courtesy of the official translator and interpreter Alex Flores Guzmán, the American businessman Jacob Ostreicher, who came to invest in agriculture in Bolivia and who in 2011 was imprisoned for a year, the victim of a network of corruption orchestrated from the upper echelons of three ministries , announced that he wants to return for his goods. They took everything away and put Palmasol.
His name sounded again after the land disputes registered in what years ago was his property (and his partners), in the town of San Antonio de Junte (Guarayos).
In an exclusive interview with EL DEBER, he referred to the lands seized (by assumptions related to MAS) and the violent acts that resulted in the death of Franklin Delgadillo. For him there is no justice in Bolivia, but he indicated that in the future he will return to reclaim what was taken from him.
For now, she lives in New York (USA) and is dedicated to caring for her holocaust survivor parents. He spoke about the Colombian lawyer Claudia Liliana Rodríguez Espitia and the former anti-narcotics prosecutor who arrested her, Álvaro La Torre. It seems incredible to him that today they are a couple and are married. She said that he does not wish anyone to experience what he experienced in the country.
– What do you know about your assets in Guarayos that the State seized from you more than 10 years ago?
Those who know about my properties is through my lawyers Yimy Montaño and Jerjes Justiniano. The land that was confiscated from me is now in the hands of Claudia Liliana Rodríguez and Álvaro La Torre, they are working my land. With whose permission, I don’t know.
Second, it is incredible to me to know that Álvaro La Torre, who was the prosecutor who put Claudia Liliana Rodríguez Espitia in jail, is working with her now and from what we have learned that they got married. That is really amazing to me.
– How many hectares of land did you have and what other assets?
There were 30,000 hectares, where there was machinery and equipment valued at millions of dollars.
What information do you have on the case and all your assets and how do you qualify that today in violent acts people related to the MAS take your land?
What is happening on my land is a very unfortunate situation, I do not have much information about it, but I am going to discuss it with my lawyers. There is not much that I can do from here (United States); however, I will inform myself well to know what is happening with the people who want to take the land.
What do you know about the trial that follows in Bolivia?
What I know from my lawyers is that they have been working almost with their hands tied behind their backs because the justice system in Bolivia has not improved. They are my best wishes that in the future, the Bolivian justice system changes and in this way it can return, but at the moment the justice system is very corrupt. I want to return and recover the lands that Claudia Liliana Rodríguez stole from me, and in this case Álvaro La Torre as well.
How are you and how do you live now after being imprisoned in Bolivia and everything you experienced in this country?
Fortunately, I live, but unfortunately after prison in Bolivia, I have certain problems sleeping, because I wake up at midnight with sudden movements, with nightmares because of everything I lived in Bolivia, something that I would not wish on anyone. I definitely can’t get over it.
Do you believe that there is justice in Bolivia and if you would return to this country?
At this precise moment there is no justice in Bolivia. God through my wish in the future is to return to Bolivia to reclaim the goods that were stolen from me.
How are you with your family, your 11 grandchildren whose photos were printed on a blanket that you covered yourself with in prison?
Unfortunately, that blanket that I had printed with the photos of my 11 grandchildren, stayed in the hospital in Bolivia when I had to flee, they always claim it. Now I dedicate myself to taking care of my parents, both are survivors of the Holocaust, both my father and my mother. They are an example for me.
What can you say to Bolivia?
I am very grateful to Bolivia and tell them that I love Bolivia because I never had any problem with a Bolivian, my problem was Claudia Liliana Rodríguez and from then on everything was a big problem. I love Bolivia and its people, I thank them very much. I also want to thank journalist Guider Arancibia for being so brave and exposing corruption and even putting his life at risk.
