MIAMI, United States. — Chinese actor, comedian and producer Jackie Chan will donate one million masks to the Cuban health system, the state agency reported today Latin Press.
The announcement was made during a visit by the actor to the Embassy of the Cuban regime in Beijing (China), where he exchanged with Carlos Miguel Pereira, the Island’s ambassador to that country.
Jackie Chan attended the diplomatic headquarters accompanied by Han Fangming, founding president and main sponsor of the Charhar Institute, an organization that brings together intellectuals from the Asian giant.
“The two expressed their affection and admiration for Cuba, its history and culture, while Chan gave a copy of his latest book and reported the donation of masks on behalf of the aforementioned Institute and his own foundation,” indicates the report of Latin Press.
The Cuban ambassador in Beijing told the official media that Chan also recognized the work of the Cuban School of Wushu and its president and founder, Roberto Vargas Lee.
With performances and voice dubbing in almost a hundred films, Jackie Chan has alternated his career as an actor with his work as a philanthropist. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Culture and Peace Committee of the Charhar Institute and Ambassador of the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
In addition to his role as a UNICEF ambassador, Jackie Chan has his own charitable organization, which is dedicated to helping people around the world.
For his extensive and successful career in the world of cinema and martial arts, Chan has received stars on the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong and on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. In 2015, Forbes magazine estimated his fortune at $350 million.
