The Dominican Republic, through the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), seeks to support the Airlines nationals in the new edition of the International Tourism Fair (fitur 2023), a meeting point for the incoming and outbound markets of travelers from Latin America that will take place from January 18 to 21 in Madrid, Spain, with the aim of continuing to strengthen the country’s air connectivity and consolidate the operations of Dominican airlines.
The information was released by the organization’s president, José Ernesto Marte Piantini.
“It is the first time that the country participates with three Airlines and with the clear objective of creating new links for Dominican aviation from markets of great importance to the Dominican Republic”, said the president of the JAC during a meeting with executives Sky High Dominicana, Sky Cana and Arajetthe three national operators that will participate in fitur 2023where there will be more than 8,360 exhibiting companies, with a general public of more than 30 thousand people.
According to a press release, the president of the JAC added that with Sky High Dominican, Sky Cana Y arajetlooking for “expanding the connectivity of the Dominican territory with the promotion of flights to and from the Dominican Republic and the rest of the region, given that Fitur is a global reference event for tourism and for national civil aviation, it is a great opportunity for the economic development of the country.
Marte explained that there could be commercial cooperation agreements that materialize through Shared Codes that allow the airlines to operate each one of a route.
For its part, Sky High is preparing to present at Fitur the new destinations they have and those that are going to open in the next three months.
“We are focused on presenting the multi-destination, to show Europe that it can come to Santo Domingo and from here go to the rest of the destinations in the region,” explained Cesarina Beauchamp, Sky High executive.
While arajet will have available information on the 17 destinations that are serving from Santo Domingo, seeking to extend its operations with airlines that fly transatlantic and that are interested in making a connection, explained Víctor Pichardo, CEO of the company.
Similarly, Frank Diaz, CEO of Sky Canaexplained that they are looking for long-range operations to complement their current services in the Dominican market.
