A new recognition adds to his musical career the Colombian reggaeton player J Balvin. The artist was awarded as ‘Best Afro-Latino Artist of 2021’, an award that has caused controversy to the point that the paisa is a trend on Twitter.
For AEAUSA (African Entertainment Awards from the US), the singer was the best in that category during this year that is almost over, but in networks many believe that Balvin should not have been part of it since he is not an Afro-descendant.

The Afro-Colombian singer ‘Goyo’, one of the voices of the Chocquibtown group, was outraged by the choice of the winner of this award, although she stressed that it was nothing against Balvin, since like her, many agree that the reggaeton “is not to blame.”

Likewise, many Internet users were surprised by this nomination and even more by the award obtained by the urban artist.

Some believe that Balvin should renounce this award and even state that before obtaining it he should have pronounced on the matter out of respect for his colleagues.
He referred to the controversial past of the Grammys
In an interview with ‘Tell me King’, J Balvin spoke about the supposed Boitcot at the 2021 Grammys Awards, when he invited his colleagues in the genre not to be present at the evening held in Las Vegas, due to the few nominations of his genre in the Latin Grammys.
«The biggest mistake that I had when the Grammys happened was to summon people instead of me to speak directly with the Academy and with the artists and tell them this is happening.
