J Balvin opens up about his relationship with Residente after their controversial fight

The paisa speaks without filters about his relationship with Residente after the controversial ‘tiradera’ and explains what he feels today regarding the conflict.

After years of media tensionJ Balvin decided to speak honestly about what happened between him and Residente, one of the most commented conflicts of the urban genre in recent years.

In a recent interview with the famous Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos, The Colombian artist confessed how he lived through that difficult period, what he learned from it and how he sees his relationship with the Puerto Rican today: with maturity, without hard feelings and from a calmer perspective.

What happened between J Balvin and Residente?

The controversy between J Balvin and Residente dates back to 2021, when the paisa publicly questioned the Latin Grammy because of the way they valued the urban genre, which unleashed a strong response from the former member of Calle 13.

That exchange culminated with a ‘trash’ by Resident within a session I recorded with Bizarrap, a topic that quickly went viral on social networks and accumulated millions of views for its conflict with J Balvin.

For years, J Balvin chose not to respond with more controversy, focusing on his music and his mental healtha decision that many interpreted as a reserved stance in the face of the controversy generated.

In his conversation with the streamer Ibai LlanosJ Balvin opened his heart and explained that that stage was ‘frustrating, difficult and painful’. He acknowledged that he never imagined being involved in media dynamics of that type. Likewise, the artist reflected on the emotional impact of the conflict and assured that today he understands that holding a grudge is harmful. “It is like a poison that one is swallowing oneself,” he said when referring to hatred.
