This Saturday Former Senator Ivonne Passada passed awayas reported by the Popular Participation Movement (MPP), a sector of the Broad Front to which he belonged.

Ivonne Passada Leoncini was born in Montevideo on April 4, 1956.

Member of the National Liberation Movement since 1985 and he has served since 2002 in the national direction of the MPP.

Deputy for the capital in 2010 he assumed the presidency of the House of Representatives. She was one of the three women in history who presided over that chamber, preceded by Nora Castro and followed by Cecilia Bottino.

She also served as a senator of the Republic in substitution of Eduardo Bonomi.

The MPP remembered her as “A militant for women’s rights and participation who called for the integration of all minorities into politics in the greatest number of decision-making spaces possible.”
