Iván Duque met with the President of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle

The President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez, received this Friday in Cartagena his Uruguayan counterpart, Luis Lacalle Pou with whom he discussed matters of regional, multilateral and global interest, and bilateral priorities in matters of trade, investment, health admissibility and technical cooperation; scientific, cultural, educational and sports.

The official visit of the President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay had among its main objectives the signing ofl Extradition Treaty between Colombia and Uruguay, with which the cooperation of both countries in the judicial field is extended.

“We are pleased to sign the Extradition Treaty between Colombia and Uruguay, which expands our bilateral judicial cooperation in the fight against transnational crime,” said Duque.

Likewise, at the meeting, the leaders discussed the importance of continuing to deepen Colombia’s association with the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) that was signed in 2017, and allowed both nations to achieve trade binational of US$140 million in 2020. They also talked about promoting the mobility of people, educational integration and cultural industries.
