Iván Duque announces economic aid for Ukrainian citizens

In the last few hours, the President Ivan Duque assured that Colombia will send economic aid to assist the Ukrainians affected by the Russian invasion. Initially, this support would be 100 thousand dollars. That is, 378,731,395 million Colombian pesos.

The decision came after the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) raised a request for States to contribute to address the humanitarian crisis and migration that has been unleashed in Ukraine.

Along with this, the Colombian president will have a telephone meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky​. According to information from EL TIEMPO, Duque would express the solidarity of the Colombian government with Ukraine.

For now, the call is being coordinated by the teams of each Government but a specific date has not been established.

The conversation was scheduled for last Friday, March 18, but had to be postponed, because the president of Ukraine he cited a security council that prevented him from holding dialogue with Duque.
