On the afternoon of this Wednesday (15), five teams advanced to the round of 16, including Ituano, which eliminated Fortaleza by winning 3-2, with a penalty goal in stoppage time. Three games tonight define the last three spots: Palmeiras x Sport; Vila Nova x Corinthians; and Zumbi-AL x Bragantino. Big clubs fell by the wayside in the third phase (knockout) games. The first to fall this afternoon was Athletico-PR, defeated 1-0 by Audax-SP. In the round of 16, the São Paulo club will face the winner of Palmeiras x Sport, which will duel from 6:20 pm this Wednesday (15).
Vasco defeated Ceará, with a 3-2 victory, and will face Flamengo-de Guarulhos (SP) in the round of 16. Corvo – the nickname of Rubro-Negro from São Paulo – advanced this afternoon by beating Ibrachina 3-0 on penalties, after a 1-1 draw in regular time. In the penalties, the star of goalkeeper Cauã Aráujo shone, who saved two charges.

Also this afternoon, Grêmio advanced to the round of 16 by beating Goiás 4-0. Tricolor’s opponent from Rio Grande do Sul will leave the clash between Zumbi-AL x Bragrantino, at 9:30 pm this Monday.
On Tuesday night (15), eight other teams secured their presence in the round of 16. Botafogo, Criciúma, Guarani, Ferroviária, Fluminense, São Paulo, Cruzeiro and Bahia.
Four games open the round of 16 this Thursday (16). At 4pm, there is Botafogo x Criciúma and Cruzeiro x Bahia. Fluminense faces São Paulo at 5pm, and Guarani faces Ferroviária at 6:30pm.
The 55th edition of Copinha brought together 128 clubs in the first phase (groups). The title decision is scheduled for January 25th, a holiday in the capital of São Paulo. The final will take place at Pacaembu.
