Creating a company is not simply about wanting to become rich or having a great empire that allows us to obtain all the material goods that we always dream of or wish to have. It is about being able to generate the right conditions to achieve our own well-being goals, but above all family growth and personal satisfaction. Entrepreneurship means giving the best that we have as people to build a future shared with the family and with society.
There is no doubt that today there are hundreds of spaces in different media (radio, television, magazines and the Internet) dedicated to the dissemination of the culture of entrepreneurship, however, a reality that we cannot ignore is the fact that there is still It has not been possible as a society to reach a level of maturity that allows us to be aware of the importance and transcendence of what it means to become entrepreneurs-entrepreneurs who create businesses and new companies.
There is a belief that in order to undertake and launch their own project, there are many difficulties that prevent entrepreneurs from taking the next step, some of which are:
- That an entrepreneur must be young in age.
- That being an entrepreneur is synonymous with a millionaire.
- That to start your own business you need a lot of money.
- That it takes to be born into a family of entrepreneurs to be an entrepreneur.
- That an entrepreneur needs to find the business of his life on the first try, which is not true, an entrepreneur tries many businesses before finding the business of his life.
What we are missing is learning to face the “ghosts” of our fears and surely many will wonder: Fears! What fears! The answer lies in some of the following:
How many times have we stopped carrying out some type of personal project because we did not face criticism from the people around us? Unfortunately, many times entrepreneurs stop putting their dreams and desires into action because generally the relatives and friends closest to them are the first to put up psychological barriers to stop that decision to become independent and work on their own with the intention of building a business. patrimony and have financial freedom and labor independence; This is because the external vision of family and friends differs from that of the entrepreneur and therefore, through criticism, his close and not so close relatives express their own fears and frustrations.
They say that nobody likes to be wrong, and this phrase contains a lot of truth when it comes to undertaking. It is undeniable that nobody likes to be wrong, however, it is a fact that to launch a project, regardless of its nature and characteristics, always carries a risk of failure inherent to the very nature of the project itself.
True entrepreneurs are individuals who manage to overcome this fear of failure and are even willing to learn from their mistakes with the firm conviction of obtaining the expected results.
This phrase is usually controversial when it comes to mentioning it, how can success be a fear for someone? Although it seems like a lie, over time it has been discovered that “ordinary” people are afraid of success, the question is why? The answer is relatively simple… because people are afraid of the commitment that success means. Generally, success results in becoming an “example to follow” in being that “someone” that many of us aspire to be, it is a matter of human perception, but above all commitment, commitment to be constant, to be honest, to be citizens who lead by example, to believe in what we do and what we become in front of others.
A reality is that entrepreneurs have always existed, only before they were not recognized as such and that person with initiative, with high self-esteem, willing to take risks, leader, self-disciplined, self-motivated who decided to launch their business idea, many people I saw her as “lucky” or “crazy”, but that is not the case, in reality, he was an entrepreneur, someone willing to make his dreams come true and to strive until he achieved his greatest desires. Being an entrepreneur has a lot of romanticism, and in turn fulfilling a life mission.
Currently, this decision is more conscious, but no less important, fortunately, every day more people decide to start their own business, but it is not enough, more is needed! We need more Dominicans to break their paradigms and take the reins of their entrepreneurial destiny and decide to go from having a “business idea” to having “a company”, that is what the Dominican Republic needs, more and better companies. Although the conditions are true, there is information, there is training, there are public policies, the decision of more and better entrepreneurs is missing.
“It’s time to start”, It is time to leave behind the thoughts that prevent us from doing what we really dream of, it is time to give our country better self-employment and living conditions, it is time for the market to have more innovative options for goods and services that meet their needs, It is time for Dominicans to assume ourselves as entrepreneurs, without fear and with all the will to face the obstacles that we will surely have to face, because as an old television commercial whose phrase became famous in the 80’s said, “If worthwhile things were done easily…anyone would do them”. We are not just any Dominicans, we are a unique race, strong, warrior, fighter and the time has come to exalt our entrepreneurial spirit and build together the Dominican Republic we dream of!
