It’s Father’s Day, it’s not the day of the salteña

Why a salty? Choosing a gift for anyone is not an easy task, especially if we want to have a nice detail. In the case of men, it could be easier. The common options? Belts, wallets, items for a barbecue, office decorations, drinks. And in the celebration of Father’s Day, it has been assumed to celebrate with salteñas. Ironically, this date is called the ‘Day of the salteña’.

Just as last year we wrote about what would be the best gifts for mom, this year, I insist that many times, the best gift, it is not something material. For many parents, it is inevitable to see that there is no comparison between the celebration for mothers and what is organized for fathers and, although the Salteña is practical and quick for those honored to return to work, it is evident that both children and wives must provide the most valuable gift that any dad can ask for: a huge dose of love, bathed in unconditional respect. A love without selfishness does not need further explanation, but respect is based on the ability to give everything we expect for ourselves, in the way we would like to be treated.

So, we must activate our empathic power to imagine what would make us happy in the parental role or what we would need as parents; that is understood, valued and grateful. After analysis, it will be easier to choose the gift that the father will receive with joy and gratitude. Hopefully it will be daily and enduring, that you don’t need the celebration to make it a reality and that, upon receiving it, each parent feels stimulated to respond in the same way.
