MADRID, Spain.- José Antonio Pérez Hernández, “Ito”, who for years was the bat carrier of the capital’s baseball team industrialis in a delicate state of health and lives in a house in precarious conditions in Campo Florido, in the Havana municipality of Habana del Este.
His situation was denounced in Facebook by sports journalist Yasel Porto, who specified that “Ito”, 78 years old, has undergone heart surgery, is epileptic, hypertensive and has chronic kidney failure.
“He has been waiting for support for his home for a long time. Family and friends confirm it to me, along with this other, even more heartbreaking information. (…) There are other photos, they even sent me a video, but it is VERY HARD, ”said Porto in a publication where he shared images of the ex-cargabate and his home.
“Don’t go thinking that from the photo your health situation is not so complex. I personally asked for a photo that would avoid showing the worst possible image. I just don’t like that level of sensationalism and I think it also gives rise to ridicule or criticism of the bereaved,” she added.
The commentator asked whoever had the possibility to show solidarity and help Pérez Hernández; and he recalled that this citizen was part of multiple important moments with Industriales.
“I insist that, although this matter of the house and its low income due to retirement is more an institutional responsibility than a personal one (beyond the family), now more important than the criticism for what has not been done, is that everyone who have the possibility and interest to do so can contribute. In the end, life ends in nothing and the negative remains in the same place. It’s useless to talk about other people’s trash when we can help clean it up. Above all, if for the moment the situation does not seem to change and in the midst of all this there are valuable and innocent people who are harmed by it ”, reads the publication.
Yasel Porto shared the phone number of “Ito’s” house and her daughter’s cell phone number: 77901484 and 5356274250, for people with the possibility and interest of helping.
