Ito Bisonó invites you to discuss political and economic challenges at the seventh CAPP meeting

The president of the Center for Analysis for Public Policies (CAPP), Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, announced the holding of the seventh edition of the CAPP Regional Meeting, which will be held on November 7, 2024 at the JW Marriott Hotel – World Trade Center in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

This important regional event is organized by the CAPP in collaboration with the Freedom and Democracy Group coordinated by the former president of Colombia Ivan Duque and the International Foundation for Freedom (FIL), chaired by the Nobel Prize winner in Literature and recently naturalized Dominican, Mario Vargas Llosa .

The Regional Meeting will be held within the framework of the seventeenth anniversary of the CAPP, an organization dedicated to promoting content proposals that transcend party politics.

During these 17 years, CAPP has trained more than 3,500 people belonging to academia, civil society, the private sector and various political parties.

Meeting Topics

This event will aim to discuss the modern challenges of politics, economy and society in Latin America. Through thematic panels and the participation of former presidents, businessmen and academics, we will seek to generate new ideas to improve the quality of politics and strengthen democratic institutions in the region.

The event program will begin with registration and welcome coffee, scheduled from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. The opening ceremony will then take place from 9:00 am to 9:30 am, in which Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic; Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, President of the CAPP; and Iván Duque, former president of Colombia, who will offer welcome words.

The first panel, titled “Democracy and Governance in the 21st Century”, will take place from 9:30 am to 10:45 am This will feature the participation of Mauricio Macri (Argentina), Mariano Rajoy (Spain) and Guillermo Lasso (Ecuador) as panelists, moderated by Carlos Diaz-Rosillo of the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom.

After a break, the second panel, “Economic Integration and Regional Cooperation,” will take place from 11:05 am to 12:20 pm The panelists for this block will be Felipe Calderón (Mexico), Luis Fortuño (Puerto Rico) and Mario Abdo (Paraguay), with Álvaro Vargas Llosa of the International Freedom Foundation as moderator. Finally, from 12:20 pm to 1:20 pm, the third panel titled “Innovation and Development: The Role of the Private Sector” will be held, with the participation of Jamil Mahuad (Ecuador), Jorge -Tuto- Quiroga (Bolivia) and Iván Duque (Colombia). Magdalena Piñera, CEO of the President Sebastián Piñera Foundation, will be the moderator of this panel.

An Open and Free Event with Prior Registration Ito Bisonó invites young people from all political parties to participate in this event, which is free and requires prior registration. This meeting promises to be a space for constructive debate and reflection, contributing to the formulation of proposals that allow Latin America to face contemporary challenges from a democratic and sustainable development perspective.
