CABO ROJO, Pedernales.– Despite the initial secrecy, the assault on the offices of the Cruise Ship Dock of the ITM Port Cabo Rojo company was confirmed after the company filed a formal complaint with the Fiscal Attorney’s Office of this border jurisdiction.
According to a reliable source, the incident occurred on Saturday, January 11 at around 10:30 p.m. Three hooded men entered the administrative area of the company “in the style of a movie”, forced the safe and stole a considerable sum of money in national and foreign currency.
Although initially unofficial versions circulated that estimated the amount stolen at RD$796,000 and US$500, subsequent investigations suggest that the real figure amounts to RD$7.5 million, composed of Dominican pesos and dollars.

During the assault, the criminals pointed guns at the security personnel present, who, according to reports, did not have the necessary resources to defend themselves.
The authorities, including the National Police, the Public Ministry, the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM) and the Directorate of Monetary Crimes, immediately took over the investigation to identify and capture those responsible.
The ITM Port Cabo Rojo company confirmed that the stolen money was intended to pay for various services, including instrument operators, drivers, folklorists, musicians and transport vehicles linked to recent cruise operations.
As part of the investigations, a raid was carried out early this Friday in a local home, although no relevant evidence was found.
The authorities continue investigations to clarify the case and recover the stolen money, while the company collaborates closely with security agencies.
