Italy will appoint ambassador to Venezuela, after the release of two citizens

Venezuela and Italy agreed to raise the level of diplomatic missions to the rank of ambassadors, as confirmed by Foreign Minister Yván Gil in his Telegram account without offering further details.

Relations between both countries have been at the chargé d’affaires level since 2019. Foreign Minister Yván Gil reported that he held a conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, in which they addressed the United States attacks on Venezuela, as well as the historical relations between Italy and Venezuela.

Regarding the state of diplomatic relations, he reported that they agreed to advance a bilateral work agenda. He indicated that in the coming days they will offer more details.
