By a set, Brazil dreamed. However, the Italy – current Olympic champion – reached the second consecutive title of the Women’s Volleyball League By winning the following three and closing the final in 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22), this Sunday (27), in Lódz, Poland.
The Italians showed the strength that led them to accumulate now 29 matches followed by invincibility. Already the Brazil gets the runner-up for the fourth time in historyafter 2019, 2021 and 2022. country never won the title of competition among women.
In the first set, Brazil showed an impressive reaction power. In the final stretch, the team lost 21 to 17, but amended seven consecutive points and got the turn to close at 25 to 22.
In the second partial, Italy was able to react and close without major problems for 25 to 18.
The last two sets had similar script and identical score. Brazil ran after Italy and sometimes managed to score in sequence to even take the lead on the scoreboard, however the Italians soon found the course and unleashed in the final part.
Both sets ended at 25 to 22 and, in an attack by Anthropova, Italy secured the victory and the title.
The opposite, by the way, was the main scorer of the final, with 18 points. For Brazil, who scored the most was Gabi, with 15.
Earlier, Poland defeated Japan by 3 sets to 1 (25-15, 24-26, 25-16, 25-23) and took third place in the League of Nations.
