Before the end of the year, an extraordinary session was to be held to listen to the director of Itaipu, Manuel María Cáceres; to the president of ANDE, Félix Sosa, and to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Julio Arriola, about the Itaipu tariff and Brazil’s decision.
The request was formulated last week by the liberal senator Eusebio Ramón Ayala, before the announcement of the Brazilian Government to reduce the 2023 rate by 38.9%.
The head of the Permanent Commission of Congress, Ángel Paniagua, said that His idea was to specify the extra session before the end of the year, beyond the ordinary ones already set for January and February.

However, the call was canceled at the request of Foreign Minister Julio Arriola himself, who asked to postpone the meeting until January, according to the journalist from the Nación group, Francisca Pereira.
However, for tomorrow at 10:00 it is scheduled an “informative meeting” (mixed: virtual and face-to-face) in which none of the authorities responsible for the rate will participate of Itaipu, so it is unknown who will be in charge of giving “news”, beyond those that are already known.
