The National Government, chaired by Mario Abdo Benítez, decided to build a nephrology block in the District Hospital of Hernandarias, for the care of kidney patients in Alto Paraná. The work will be carried out with resources from ITAIPU Binacional and was announced yesterday by the Paraguayan General Director, Manuel María Cáceres, during a meeting with councilors from this municipality. The meeting, which took place at the Hydroelectric Power Plant, was also attended by the Entity’s executive coordination director, Gustavo Ovelar.
It is a project of more than 1,200 square meters in size, which will have two specialized pavilions: the first for chronic patients and the second for isolated immunocompromised patients; that is, with underlying diseases.
“We want to provide citizens with a first-class work, with first-class technology, with all the necessary parameters for patient care,” explained engineer Fernando Barúa, from the ITAIPU Works and Development Superintendency.
“We are talking about materials and equipment that will provide comfort to the patients who will be treated in the area. All systems were dimensioned for the uses that are needed. Its location is strategic and this will provide Hernandarias with a first class infrastructure, fully equipped by ITAIPU”, he added.
Among other points, the professional pointed out that the executive project is 90% complete and that it is endorsed by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPyBS). He affirmed that, in approximately one month, the bidding process will be issued.
For his part, Councilman Celestino González highlighted the management of the Executive Board of the Right Bank of the Binational to meet the needs of the municipalities located in the area of influence of the Entity. He highlighted the opening of the National Government for the development of Hernandarias and affirmed that the work will mark a before and after in terms of health for the northern zone of the tenth department.
“I think it will be a work of great impact for Alto Paraná, although the specialized block will be built in Hernandarias, it will cover the entire northern area of the department. As councilmembers, we celebrate this historic moment,” he pointed out.
He asserted that it is really perceived that it is a fairly solid and broad project, since it covers various technical and social aspects, so it is designed and planned for a future vision.
“I think they are works that make a difference, because they are within a social and historical context,” he said.
With this new undertaking, ITAIPU reaffirms its commitment to the National Government to carry out actions within the framework of strengthening public health through its social investments, for the benefit of the most needy sectors.
