“Any unilateral military action by the United States within Mexico without the latter’s consent would destroy trust, undermine cooperation with Mexican authorities, and make the fight against drug trafficking even more difficult in the communities we represent,” the congressmen said in the letter.

The politicians pointed out that the Government of Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has cooperated with the Trump administration, so it is not necessary to carry out unilateral actions.
“Without a doubt, Mexico still has political and rule of law challenges that threaten its progress,” they said.
Trump Cabinet officials, such as Marco Rubio, have applauded Sheinbaum’s actions against criminal groups in recent months. However, Trump insists that the country is run by drug traffickers.
“Mexico is the United States’ main trading partner and a vitally important security partner with which we have shared family and border ties for years,” the Democrats said in the letter.
”Under the presidency of Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico has drastically increased its cooperation with the US,” they added.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, assured this Thursday that he will carry out ground attacks against the cartels, without specifying in which region of the world.
“We are going to start attacking on the ground right now, as far as the cartels are concerned. The cartels that rule Mexico,” Trump said during an exclusive interview with Fox News.
“What happens in that country (Mexico) is very sad. The cartels kill 250,000 people in our nation every year, it is devastating,” he added.
President Claudia Sheinbaum said today that she would work on communication with the New York magnate and was against military intervention on Mexican soil.
