It will be reality

It will be reality

About 40 young people registered for the Río Branco Student Home in Montevideo

At the beginning of the week, the Mayor of the Municipal Government Federico López, accompanied by Councilor Gerardo Olivera, the Manager of the Social Management Area Fabián Pedrozo, the Social Assistant Deborah Olivera and the Manager of the current Rosario Mieres Residence, visited the facilities of the building that is planned to be rented.

The 2nd Student Home of Río Branco in Montevideo would operate there with capacity for fifty young people from the 3rd Section of the department of Cerro Largo.

It is a well-located residence, with modern facilities, conditions that are ideal for the purpose that the Municipality intends to give it.

While registrations are still being received at the Social Management Office – next to the House of Culture in Río Branco – there are already around 40 young people who have expressed their interest in using this 2nd Student Home.

“The truth is that it has been a pleasure for us to have been able to be in this important instance as it is to be able to achieve the realization of being able to have another Student Home for our gurises, for our students” held Federico Lopez.

“We came with part of the Social Management team, the Manager Fabián Pedrozo came along with the Social Assistant Deborah Olivera, one of the Councilors Gerardo Olivera also accompanied us and the importance of having the presence of Rosario, the Rector of our existing Student Home in Montevideo to advise us, to indicate us, teach us and really help us to be able to carry out this great project that we have” said the Mayor.

“We know the importance for our young people, for our students, of having these facilities, therefore, what could be better than having Rosario giving us her instructions” Lopez highlighted.

In fact, Rosario Mieres has been in charge of the Río Branco Student Home in Montevideo for a decade, where about twenty boys stay.

“Obviously it is something that is not yet closed, that is not concluded” Lopez specified. “Yes, we can tell you that it is on a very good path. There are a lot of gurises signed up, almost 40 have already registered. That was essential: knowing the number of possible users and knowing the real need for places that we were going to have” he added.

“Yes, personally, I already knew the place, I wanted the Head of the Social Management Area, the Rector and part of the Council to also know it. Today Gerardo was happily able to accompany us (Olive) which is very important for us” expressed the Mayor of the Municipality of Río Branco.

“What we want is to be able to provide society, offer our students the possibility of coming to continue studying in Montevideo because we know how expensive it is” he stressed. “I think that between the Municipality and the support of the families this will be more accessible, easier to provide this place” Federico López considered minutes after touring all the building’s facilities.

“We are very happy, analyzing, taking numbers, studying, but also with the conviction that it is something that will soon become a reality” hill.
