The councilman, in the session of the past 12, said that his proposal responded to a letter from merchants, especially from Gral. Artigas street, which in August 2015 they presented before the previous management of the Municipality. It requested: “the city’s parking is reviewed”, because “it harms us commercially” by keeping in mind that “80 meters of parking is allocated for motorcycles, and 80 meters for cars, taking into account not only the dimensions of each one of the different vehicles, but also the garage entrances in each of the streets”.
Considering that a solution would be to reduce the space for motorcycles, they proposed that “30 meters be allocated for them in the middle of the block, on the left side of the direction of traffic.”
Cosati stated that the modification of the vehicle parking should be done at least in the streets Gral. Artigas, Rodó, Jacinto Laguna, Chile and Cúneo.
The proposal was accompanied by the other members of the Municipality and will be processed before the Traffic Directorate to evaluate the possibility and finalize the initiative.
