A video of a dog scratching the door of a taxi after being left on a street in Duitama, Boyacá, went viral in the last few hours, generating outrage and rejection among social media users who described the incident as alleged abandonment.

The co-pilot of the vehicle did not allow the dog to enter the taxi, so many inferred that it was a case like the one suffered by many animals not only in Colombia, but in any corner of the world.

Mayor visited the dog’s owner
The Duitama Mayor’s Office, through the Health Secretariat, and with the support of the group of police officers, carried out an inspection of the home where he has lived for 4 years. Brunothe dog that appears in the images circulating on social media.
During the visit, the municipal officials who attended to the case evaluated Bruno’s health and found him in good condition: “We conducted the corresponding follow-up and received a statement from the owners, who were warned about the bad behavior observed, even though it was not a case of abandonment.”
In a text published on its social media accounts, the mayor’s office collected the statements of the dog’s owners and the taxi driver, who stated what apparently happened: “The owners publicly explained that they regret their actions and that these occurred because, being just a few blocks from their home, the dog could not be transported in the taxi in which they were traveling, since an elderly person who had recently undergone surgery was also traveling in the vehicle.”
Finally, in a video the mayor’s office gave serious recommendations to the animal’s owners because “it was not appropriate behavior.”
