The deputy of the Colorado Party for the department of Colonia, Ms. Nibia Reish, is closely following the issue with the Executive Branch.
As legislator Reisch advanced in the Chamber of Deputies, the Agricultural Emergency Commission met to analyze and define the issue.
As reported by the legislator after communicating with the Minister of Livestock, this resolution is taken since for the time of year in which it is, there are many areas of the country with many complications that could worsen in the coming days.
“The INIA reports tell us the reality that exists in the southwest of the country. Between May 1st and October 10th, it rained 199 millimeters, making it the 4th worst year in history,” reported Reisch.
“In the last five months there are 216 millimeters of accumulated deficit, representing 48% of the average record for the last 57 years. This really gives us the guideline of the reality that we are living”, clarified the legislator.
Reisch mentioned that he is in permanent contact with the Executive Power from where resolutions have already been taken to advance the Declaration of Agricultural Emergency.
With the declaration, which covers the areas of agriculture, livestock and farms, emergency agricultural funds are released, which are resources to assist small family producers or producers of less than 500 hectares with a Coneat 100 index.
Last year, the agricultural emergency covered 12 million hectares and more than 1,500 producers. For this 2022, more than 16 million hectares are calculated.
The Directorate of Livestock Services will define the possibility of enabling grazing alongside the routes, depending on whether there are infectious diseases in the area, to safeguard the sanitary conditions of the rodeo.
