The Buenos Aires Minister of Transportation, Jorge D’Onofrio, celebrated this Friday the sanction of the provincial law which establishes the zero alcohol tolerance in blood for vehicle drivers, with penalties that include fines, arrest, license retention and disqualification and considered that “it was a long road and will be a fundamental step for a cultural change necessary to save lives.”
“I have the great joy of announcing that #AlcoholCeroEsLey in our Province. It was a long road, but finally it’s law, and I am very grateful for the support of the associations of relatives of victims. They are the engine that drives us every day to work for a safer transport in the Province that saves lives,” said the minister on social networks this Friday, after the sanction of the regulations.
D’Onofrio, promoter of the initiative witnessed this morning in the Chamber of Deputies the session in which legislators converted into law the proposal that had been approved on October 27 in the provincial Senate.
The norm provides for the incorporation and modification of articles of Law 13,927 of the Traffic Code to establish the prohibition of driving to those who have drunk alcohol.
That way, The permitted degree of 500 milligrams of alcohol per liter of blood is now eliminated.
“I also want to thank each and every legislator who worked so that this Law becomes a reality and we continue advancing with the cultural change that we need”, he stressed.
