As expected, Gregorio Eljach swept the Senate of the Republic and He was chosen to be the new Attorney General of the Nation.

Eljach obtained 95 votes in the Senate plenary, while its rivals, Luis Felipe Henao and Germán Varón, They obtained just 3 and 2 votes, respectively.

The new attorney will replace Margarita Cabello in office from January 20, 2025, for a period of four years.
