The metropolitan region of São Paulo recorded rain and wind from late morning until mid-afternoon this Friday (12). With rain, although milder than that observed in recent days, the number of people without power in the region increased again.
The Enel concessionaire even reported that 600 thousand customers were without power today. With the rains, caused by a low pressure system, this number reached 750 thousand customers. Checking the website from the energy concessionaire, at 7:30 pm, the information was that around 710 thousand customers were without supply. Firefighters reported that there were 175 calls for falling trees this Friday.
Some of these customers are receiving messages from the dealership informing them that their problem is “difficult to resolve”. Some of them wait more than 48 hours for a solution. This is the case of residents of a condominium in Raposo Tavareswhich still face problems.
Due to the lack of electricity, some groups of residents have mobilized in the last few hours and protested, interrupting traffic. Residents of Jardim de Abril set fire to tires, interrupting the flow on Avenida Politécnica, in the west zone. Residents of Bixiga protested near Avenida Nove de Julho, in the city center, the same region where a group of 50 people closed Avenida Brigadeiro Luís Antônio.
During the day, the capital’s mayor, Ricardo Nunes, said that the company deployed less than 50 vehicles to carry out repairs on the streets. Enel’s advisors speak of 1,500 teams working and attribute the delay to the exceptional nature of the cyclone that hit the region. Nunes once again spoke about reviewing the federal concession, although he did not present consistent alternatives in his speeches and interviews on the topic.
