The Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, denounced, this Wednesday, before the Citizen Security Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and Deputiesthat one of the planes that left the country during the Piñera government, carrying expelled Venezuelan citizens, would have returned to the country with all its passengers and that in this regard, it is currently not known where these people are.
The commission session was discussing the way in which the Executive will address the migration crisis in the north of the country, when it was put on the table whether the Government of Gabriel Boric will continue to expel foreigners who violate the law in Chile.
Given this, the head of the Interior clarified that they will continue to carry out this type of legal action, but stressed that they hope not to make the same mistakes as the previous administration. “The problem is that we identified that one of the planes that were made, for example to Venezuela, returned with the same people”, Siches affirmed in the instance.
“It really is a very serious thing. The amount of resources involved in moving a plane full of people and returning it whole. Where are those people who have judicial indication of expulsion? For the same reason, when we carry out our expulsions that are necessary, we have to guarantee that the same thing does not happen to us, because it is a mess, at the national level, that is really unpresentable, ”said the minister.
In turn, he stated that he does not know how the government of Sebastián Piñera did it so that this information did not come to light. “That was something we had no idea about (…) So my congratulations to the previous government that had the ability to cover this with earth, I don’t know how,” Siches closed.
