The President of the Nation, Alberto Fernándezaffirmed this Tuesday that “it is time to recognize, visualize and record the activities of the popular economy”, and assured that progress will be made “in converting social plans into formal employment by resorting to training in trades, training and promotion of educational completion; by registering the popular economy; and through 340 banks of machinery and tools”.
“In this time that we must address, we cannot ignore the existence of other actors in our society, I am referring to those who work and produce in the framework of what is called the popular economy”, contextualized the President in the framework of his opening speech of the 140th period of ordinary sessions of the National Congress before the Legislative Assembly.
In this sense, he stressed that “the popular economy can collaborate with local and regional food production and supply necessary for community life in the interior of our country”, so “the National State must help to make this happen with a strictly federal criterion”.

“We must make it easier for the State to buy its inputs and involve work cooperatives in the small public works that the State carries out. It is necessary to promote their inclusion through a productive monotax that simplifies their formalization,” said Fernández.
In addition, he stressed that the Government is “promoting the production and distribution of healthy, safe and wholesome food through the Pro Huerta and Sembrar Sovereignty Programs”.
“We are going to take up the challenge that Pope Francis has proposed: push from below to above and from the peripheries to the center”, argued Fernández, and maintained that “the idea of spilling the wealth of the powerful is just a chimera that never materializes: the time has come for income to be distributed in terms of greater equity.
In addition, he stated that popular economy “we need to provide it with credits so that production pushes the most neglected sectors upwards”and added: “we must advance their productivity and growth by building new generations of rights.”
Finally, he noted that “Argentina needs to start an inclusive development process that attends to the incorporation of those who today receive social plans and from them, associated in cooperatives or providing jobs in the State, seek to improve their living conditions.”
“As long as someone needs it, state assistance will continue to be presentbut it is time for the Argentine men and women who can do so, to gradually return to formal employment and be able to dispense with social plans”, argued President Fernández.
