This Thursday, before Ivan Duke leave his post as president, the resources that will be allocated to important mobility projects for the Colombian capital, such as the construction of the second line of the Bogota Metroin addition to the trunk by the 13TH Street.
According to the National Planning Department, $40 billion pesos were approved to finance the two projects, whose objective is to decongest the city and connect other localities with the center of Bogotá.
In this co-financing agreement, and thanks to the contributions of the Nation for $39 billion and Bogotá for $12 billion, in 2023 the largest investment in infrastructure will begin to be built and sustainable mobility in the history of Bogotá.

“With the resources they give us today that It is not a ‘chimbolic’ or cardboard check, but a check with funds, it is the money that allows us to open the contracting and bidding processes, so President Duque gives Bogotá on his 484th birthday the largest investment that any national government has made in infrastructure and sustainable mobility for Bogotá ” , said the mayor Claudia López, during the signing of the co-financing agreement.
But, what are the mobility projects in which these resources will be invested?
*The second line of the Bogotá metro (underground): From Calle 72 with Carrera 10, passing through Avenida Caracass, where it will join station 16 of the PLMB, and will cross the towns of Chapinero, Barrios Unidos, Engativá and Suba, until it ends in the area of Fontanar del Río, where the Patio Taller will be located.
It would be 15.5 kilometers long, and 11 stations will be built along the route, ten of which will be underground.
with this project the city will have approximately 40 kilometers of heavy metro network, 27 stations that will be integrated with the northern rail corridor and with 5 Transmilenio feeder green corridors, and according to what is planned, the delivery and start-up will be for the year 2032.

- 13TH Street: As of the signing of this agreement, the selection and award process will begin, with which it is expected that this section will come into operation in January 2026.
- New South ALOfrom Sibaté and Soacha to Calle 13: more than one billion pesos were allocated for this work and signed a long-term contract for 30 years, which include the pre-construction stage for one year, the construction stage (4 years), and 25 years of operation and maintenance.
- North entrances II (Autopista Norte y Carrera 7): the contract initiation certificate was signed on June 23, 2022, thus beginning the pre-construction stage.
