"It is an attack on Congress": Patricia Juárez on constitutional complaint against her and ten legislators

The vice president of Congress, Patricia Juárez, pointed out that the constitutional complaint against her and ten legislators “is an attack on Congress.” This, because according to her she has not committed any crime of incompatible negotiation.

“I have not spoken with the other congressmen. I am a lawyer. I am a congressman. And it is a clear attack on the Congress of the Republic. And the worst of all is that it has no legal basis or violation of the Constitution,” he said.

“Ask her (Nation’s Attorney, Delia Espinoza),” said Juárez when we asked him why he considers that the aforementioned complaint would be a political issue.

CONSTITUTIONAL COMPLAINT

For his part, Congressman Jorge Montoya, from Honor and Democracy, told Peru21 that he will present a constitutional complaint and another in criminal proceedings against the Attorney General, Delia Espinoza, because it would be, according to him, a political matter.

According to Montoya, the complaint is politically motivated by Montoya’s bill that proposes a reform of the Public Ministry.

COMPLAINT FROM THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

Perú21 announced this morning that the Prosecutor’s Office filed a constitutional complaint against 11 congressmen for the alleged crime of incompatible negotiation.

This, because as members of the Defense Commission, in the 2021-2022 period, they would have benefited through the publication of a law.

The congressmen reported are: José Williams, Roberto Chiabra, José Williams, José Cueto, Alfredo Azurín, Hamlet Echevarría, Américo Gonza, Patricia Juárez, Juan Carlos Lizarzaburu, Edwin Martínez and Lucinda Vásquez.

THE MAJOR OFFICER RATIFIES

On the other hand, Juárez said that by agreement of the Board of Directors, the senior officer Giovanni Forno was ratified, despite the fact that his work has been questioned in the Andrea Vidal case because he did not want to say the name of the authority that recommended the hiring of Jorge Torres Saravia as head of the Legal and Constitutional Office.
