To the message from the president, who congratulated his counterpart Joe Biden and described the measure as “an advance” towards integration between the United States and Latin America, Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo joined in, who described the decision as fair.

“From the first day of this government, President Petro gave the instruction to carry out the necessary steps for Cuba to be removed from that list.. This is what we did from the embassy in the United States. It was a central topic in the conversations between President Petro and President Biden. For this reason, we welcome this measure, which is a fair decision,” said Murillo.

The chancellor reiterated that Colombia, “He is against unilateral and extraterritorial actions like that.” In that sense, he insisted that similar decisions should be extended to other countries, without specifically mentioning which one.

Earlier, The Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it celebrated the decision of the United States and, in addition, reiterated its gratitude to the Cuban people. for the efforts and constant support in the negotiation and dialogue processes necessary to achieve peace in Colombia.
