“It endures. Women of Smoke” is the title of the new personal exhibition of this renowned photographer, made up of 20 pieces.
After several years in which he has not stopped creating and “seeing” the world through his camera, the artist has decided to subtract the rudeness of the typical tobacco –very masculine, some think– with photographs where they “kiss the cigar”. , as Leonardo Padura wrote.
In “Endures…” Alderete captures, with fine intention, the internal strength of its models: beautiful and empowered; thoughtful and challenging.
At 4:00 pm on March 2, this exhibition will be inaugurated in the luxurious “Casa Abel”, a restaurant-cigar bar located in San Lázaro on the corner of San Nicolás, Centro Habana.

Ángel Alderete is an essential part of the most complex Cuban cinema productions of the last two decades. He studied painting at the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts and underwater photography at the International Diving School. Between 1972 and 1982 he participated in more than 40 documentaries.

“It endures. Women of Smoke” It is part of the extensive program of activities that will take place from February 27 to March 3 during the Habano Festival. According to its organizers, the best specialists, distributors and fans will once again live the experiences that have made the event famous: visits to renowned factories, plantations, seminars, conferences, galas and competitions.
