The president Dina Boluarte received the title of the “most negative character of 2024” following the results of a survey conducted by Ipsos. This designation has generated various reactions, among them, the statements of the Minister of Agrarian Development, Angel Manerowho tried to minimize the impact of the figures.
“We are not working for the immediate term, we are working for the medium and long term. What is going to matter here is how President Boluarte’s government is going to turn out, and I think it is going to be in a way that you do not expect, it is going to turn out very well,” Manero said.
However, government management faces criticism due to the increase in citizen insecurity and homicides in the country. In this regard, the minister attributed these problems to a historical accumulation, pointing out that they cannot be resolved immediately.
“These are problems that have been going on for a long time and are not going to be resolved in weeks,” Manero told RPP. However, he highlighted that during the current government, a reduction was achieved in the criminal activities of the criminal organization ‘Tren de Aragua’.
In the midst of these statements, Manero also commented on the recent controversy related to the Executive’s position regarding a law approved by Congress and subsequently revoked. The issue has been a focus of political tension, and the Executive is expected to announce its position in the coming days.
