It continues to rise: approval of José Jerí reaches 47%

The presidential approval of José Jerí went up again. According to the Ipsos survey for América TV, published last night by Cuarto Poder, the president reaches 47% of citizen acceptance, two percentage points more than the October record, almost two months after assuming the highest office of the country after the vacancy of Dina Boluarte.

In the measurement, 39% disapprove, three percentage points less than in the previous survey.

In the region, Jerí is surpassed only by Rodrigo Paz Pereira, the new president of Bolivia, and by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, of Brazil. It ties with the presidential approval of Javier Milei in Argentina and surpasses the heads of state of Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador, Chile and Colombia.

From the beginning of his administration, the president of Peru declared war on crime and, recently, began a tour of regions in order to learn about the demands of each of them.

LITTLE MOVEMENTS

On the other hand, just over four months before the presidential elections in the country, 33% of Peruvians continue to indicate that they will vote invalid, blank or for none of the 39 candidates in the race. Even 15% do not specify who they will opt for on the democratic day.

The results once again place the former mayor of Lima Rafael López Aliaga, candidate for Pizarro’s seat for Popular Renewal, as the first on the list with 9%. He is followed by Keiko Fujimori from Fuerza Popular and Mario Vizcarra from Perú Primero, both with 7%.

Behind them, appears the candidate of País Para Todos, Carlos Álvarez, with 5%, and several candidates for the Government Palace with 2%: Alfonso López Chau of Ahora Nación, Yonhy Lescano of Cooperación Popular, César Acuña of Alianza Para el Progreso (APP), Carlos Espá of Sí Creo, George Forsyth of Somos Perú, Phillip Butters of Avanza País and Rafael Belaunde of Libertad Popular.

Compared to the Ipsos measurement for the first half of November, Keiko loses one percentage point, while Álvarez gains one. The following weeks will be crucial to observe the electoral movements.

CONVICTIONS APPROVED

Ipsos also consulted citizens about the sentences of former presidents Martín Vizcarra and Pedro Castillo, respectively. In the case of the first, 50% approve of his sentence for having received bribes when he was governor of Moquegua, while 42% disapprove and 8% do not specify.

Before Castillo was sentenced, Peruvians were consulted if they would approve an eventual unfavorable sentence. 40% said yes, but 54% responded no, despite the evidence of the coup d’état and the corruption cases that weigh on it.
